Amanda Castillo –
I recently made the jump to the TP-Link SG2428LP Omada 28-Port Gigabit Smart Switch, and I have to say, I was a bit hesitant at first. I mean, with so many networking options out there, how do you pick the right one? That being said, I have been pleasantly surprised by this switch so far. The 16 PoE+ ports are particularly impressive; I’ve connected a few access points and cameras without any hassle. It’s great to have that capability without needing extra power adapters cluttering my setup.
One thing worth mentioning is the setup process. The Omada app makes it much easier, but I still felt like I had to tweak a few settings before everything was up and running smoothly. It’s not rocket science, but I wish the instructions were a bit clearer. That being said, once I got everything dialed in, I noticed a significant improvement in network performance—especially for devices that rely on Poe power.
Now, onto the design. I appreciate that it’s compact and reasonably sleek, fitting well into my home office without looking like a bulky piece of equipment. It has a solid build quality, which is what I expect from TP-Link. However, I did have some reservations about the fan noise at first; it’s not overly loud, but it’s definitely audible if you’re in a quiet room.
Overall, despite a few quirks during setup, I’d say the TP-Link SG2428LP is a solid investment for anyone looking to enhance their network’s efficiency. It’s robust, reliable, and offers great performance for the price. Just make sure you’re ready to spend a little time configuring it to your liking!
